Hello! I'm Anangabii (uh-nung-uh-bee), a two-spirit/trans Indigenous therapist who specializes in trauma, identity, and relationship work. I support individuals and couples in navigating the challenges of life transitions, mental health struggles, and personal growth. Whether you’re seeking to process past trauma, improve your communication, or navigate the complexities of your identity, we will work together to explore which therapeutic methods—such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, parts work, dialectical behavioral therapy, or solution-focused techniques—best support your growth. My approach is collaborative, and I encourage continuous feedback to ensure the work we do is effective and meaningful. I welcome and affirm clients who are BIPOC and/or 2SLGBTQIA+, non-monogamous or polyamorous, and practice BDSM or kink.
I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a B.A. in Integrative Studies, focusing on Indigenous Sustainability and Leadership, where I deepened my understanding of indigenous feminism, decolonial theory, and community-driven solutions. I then went on to earn my Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan, where I continued to develop my skills in mental health and community care. Drawing from my upbringing in my tribal community, education, and my work in my community, I approach therapy with a lens that values trauma-informed care, relationships, and holistic well-being. I believe that healing is not just personal, but also deeply connected to our community, each other, and the land (aki).
In my free time, I enjoy learning Anishinaabemowin, watercolor painting, reading fantasy and sci-fi, being with my community, organizing, hiking, going to the beach, and trying new restaurants. If you think we might be a good fit, please reach out so we can schedule a free consultation!
