Recovering from the Impacts of Trauma in a Safe and Supported Setting

Connally Counseling seeks to provide relief and remission from the symptoms of C-PTSD and PTSD through evidenced-based interventions that target the many distressing manifestations of trauma.

Therapists at Connally Counseling approach trauma differently.

We approach from a systemic, cultural, generational and individualized lens which means we assess not simply for traumatic events but also the impact of your upbringing, racial identity, gender, sex, nationality, socioeconomic status and religion on how you experience the world and how you see yourself. This approach coupled with the identities and lived experiences of our clinicians create true emotional safety that allows trauma recovery to begin.

Recovery from Complex Trauma and PTSD

When our body does not feel safe or able to relax, it is an indicator that we are still in a survival state which is an indicator of trauma. Remission and relief from this survival state is possible through trauma therapy in a safe relationship that restores trust. Trauma recovery is a time intensive process, but with a skilled therapist at Connally Counseling it is more than possible, we see it every day!

Our therapists are skilled in assessment for symptoms of trauma and we have clinicians who stay with their clients for several years.

This is often necessary in providing a foundation of safety and consistency to effectively explore or process associated trauma memories.

Modalities

Our therapists have training in multiple modalities that are trauma-informed:

  • Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Mindfulness practices

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

We offer these therapy modalities among many others that are well-researched in providing relief and remission from PTSD/C-PTSD.
