Hello!
I’m Avery and I am a therapist here at Connally Counseling. I aim to provide a safe and supportive environment in which clients feel comfortable exploring their mental health, identities, and other aspects of their being. I feel that therapy is a collaborative process, and so I work alongside my clients knowing that they are the experts of their own life and experiences.
I work with teens, young adults and adults who are wanting support for anxiety, depression, life changes/transitions, relationship- and friendship-related issues, religious trauma, and identity exploration. During sessions, I will utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches to support clients in their therapeutic goals.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Oakland University in Rochester, MI. I also interned at a Child Advocacy Center during this time and working there allowed me to learn about the impact that childhood trauma can have on folx as they enter adulthood. Beyond my undergraduate career, I have also worked in a substance use treatment center and I am currently enrolled in a development plan to become a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. After finishing my undergraduate program, I went to the University of Michigan to get my Master’s in Social Work and now have an LLMSW. During my time at the University of Michigan, I interned here at Connally Counseling and gained important experience working directly with folx for individual therapy!
In my free time, I enjoy playing with my roommate’s cats, watching tv, and spending time with friends and family. If you would like to get to know me a bit better and see if we would be a good fit for therapy, please reach out for a free phone consultation!
