Hi, my name is Jacob! I’m a graduate student therapist here at Connally.
The world is incredibly complex and navigating it with strength can be challenging. As a therapist, I base my practice in respect, collaboration and a safe environment free of judgement. My approach includes parts of Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment based therapies.
I work with young adults and adults who desire support with relationship issues, ADHD, anxiety, depression, life transitions (or changes), and LGBTQIA+ identities.
I received my undergraduate degree in Biopsychology, Cognition and Neuroscience from the University of Michigan. During my bachelor’s program, I worked with a number of different folx in my clinical internship with Mary A. Rackham Institute in the University Center for the Child and Family (UCCF). There, I gained experience working under the supervision of therapists for children and adolescents with autism. My role at MARI taught me to be flexible and the importance of being client led in sessions.
Now, I am a current MSW student at the University of Michigan. Following graduation, I would create a space where queer joy, expression, and safety can be found within my office. A goal of mine is to work with queer folx on sexual, emotional, social, and relational issues.
In my free time, I am a huge fan of video games, I enjoy watching movies and going out with friends in the community. If you’re wondering if we’d be a good fit for therapy, please reach out for a free consultation!
