Hi, my name is Jacob! I am a psychotherapist here at Connally.
The world is incredibly complex and navigating it with strength can be challenging. As a therapist, I base my practice in respect, collaboration and a safe environment free of judgement. My approach includes parts of Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment based therapies.
I work with young adults and adults who desire support with relationship issues, ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, life transitions (or changes), and LGBTQIA+ identities. I am a queer therapist and have experience helping queer/trans people in the process of coming out/transitioning.
I received my undergraduate degree in Biopsychology, Cognition and Neuroscience from the University of Michigan. During my bachelor’s program, I worked with a number of different folx in my clinical internship with the Mary A. Rackham Institute in the University Center for the Child and Family (UCCF).
Once graduating, I pursued and completed my MSW degree at UMich in interpersonal practice. During my time there, I learned through working on wellness initiatives for social impact and also gaining therapy experience here at Connally as a graduate student therapist. Now graduated, I am thrilled to continue my work doing therapy as a full-time psychotherapist.
In my free time, I am a huge fan of video games, I enjoy watching movies and going out with friends in the community. If you’re wondering if we’d be a good fit for therapy, please reach out for a free consultation!
