Hello there, reader! Before I introduce myself, I would like to take a moment of gratitude for you taking steps to support your mental health and overall well-being (after all, finding a therapist that you gel with is no walk in the park).
My name is Joey, and I am a graduate student therapist. As a therapist, I am passionate about healing and creating a judgment-free environment where you feel seen. You do not need me to tell you that life can be difficult, but with therapy, I hope to create an honest and collaborative relationship that best supports your needs through a variety of modalities (types of therapy) and evidence-based practices. I am drawn towards utilizing both talk and somatic (mind-body connection) based approaches, with a special focus on anxiety, OCD, depression, PTSD, and trauma. Having said that, I aim to curate treatment to the needs of each individual and work alongside you to see what fits.
I am currently studying Social Work at the University of Michigan, with the pathway of Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, & Substance Abuse, and a Mini-Certificate in Trauma-Informed Practice. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminology from the University of Massachusetts Boston. During my time as an undergraduate, I studied the link between social justice and healing, and I plan to continue working towards positive change at both the individual level and on a larger scale. I was also a member of a research lab that focused on LGBTQ+ health-psychology, working on studies related to body image, mindfulness, and polyamory.
In my free time, I enjoy exploring nature, working out, gaming, and watching horror movies! If you feel we would be a good fit, please reach out for a free consultation. Thank you for reading, and please take care!
