You feel like past trauma is getting in the way of the life you truly want. You struggle with relationships, feel disconnected from yourself, or carry shame and guilt. You get stuck in repetitive cycles of anxiety or experience intense emotions. If any of that sounds like you, we may be a good fit! I believe you are the expert on your own experience, and you don’t have to go through it alone.

As a therapist, I trust in each person’s resilience and capacity to move toward healing. I strive to create a safe and nonjudgmental space as the basis for our work together. My approach is active, egalitarian, and insight-oriented. My goal is to create a collaborative and lighthearted space for you to feel seen, heard, and supported in your healing.

My name is Mariam. I am a queer-identifying therapist gaining expertise and specializations in trauma therapy and trauma-informed care. I graduated from the University of Michigan, where I completed my practicum at a trauma therapy practice that specializes in Somatic Experiencing. While there, I received clinical training and supervision in IFS and somatic trauma therapy.

I love supporting LGBTQ clients, embrace fat positivity, neurodiversity and am an advocate for social justice. I hold a certificate in LGBTQ Studies from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where I completed my B.A. in Psychology and conducted undergraduate research in Social Psychology on interpersonal relationships.

I use therapies informed by IFS (Parts Work) and Somatic Experiencing to help you reconnect with your body and emotions, and reduce symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and stress. I also have training in AEDP (an integrative model based in attachment theory), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills, and trauma-informed mindfulness. I like to read, listen to music. be in nature, and exercise.
