My name is Spencer and I am a therapist here at Connally Counseling. I obtained my BA in psychology and MSW both from the University of Michigan and have been calling Ann Arbor my home my whole life! When it comes to therapy, I firmly believe in creating a space with my client that is supportive, judgement-free, and allows them to navigate the challenges that they may be experiencing. I believe in meeting my clients where they are at and that every individual is deserving of someone to support them in their journey through life.
I work primarily with children and adolescents ages 5-18 years old and I have years of experience working with kids in many different capacities. Whether it be as a school aid at a local elementary school or as a therapist within the school, I enjoy getting to support our youth as they gain their education and help support them as they navigate the varying challenges life provides us with as we develop into adults. While at the University of Michigan, I interned as a school-based and outpatient therapist which provided me with a great experience working with youth in different contexts while also highlighting the importance of school and education for their healthy development. Additionally, I have experience working with youth with ASD. My expertise largely lies in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and ADHD. A famous book, “The Gift of Therapy” written by Irvin D. Yalom, M.D., teaches that a primary role of the therapist is to help the individual navigate life, something I am proud to provide.
When I am not working, you can find me playing guitar, playing disc golf at a local course, playing video games, or spending time with my Corgi. I look forward to working closely with you and your child!
